Meet the Instructors

Bob Walker:
Frances Mooney (wife/partner) and I transformed our former San Diego home into a feline fantasyland of overhead playground. For several years, I documented our cats frolicking above, and sharing their lives with us; which resulted in my first, best-selling photography book, The Cats’ House. It was followed by Cats into Everything (sold out in two weeks!), and a successful series of cat books, cards, and calendars. Our Cats’ House attracted paws-itive international attention, and was featured by countless TV/print media, including PEOPLENew York TimesWashington PostNational Geographic KidsAnimal PlanetHGTVThe Today ShowRipley’s—Believe It or Not!, and the film Home Movie.

Chris Henrickson:
Hello my name is Chris Henrikson. I am a freelance photographer specializing in weddings, portraits, and events. I photograph events and create portraits for Barksdale School Portraits, portrait and video work for OddBox Studios and my photos have been published in magazines. I love capturing memories for my clients that will last a lifetime.

Matthew Thwing:
Growing up there was a camera available somewhere in the house at all times. My dad didn’t always appreciate me picking it up but it was a normal part of life for him to be pointing it at us at any given point during adolescence. Growing up I never really appreciated the little here and there moments he captured as I went about just being a kid. As I’ve gotten older I’ve come to realize just how important those moments are. First steps, first dances and last breathes are sometimes all we have to help us remember those split seconds that seemed so insignificant in the moment. The more time I spend behind the camera the more I realize the responsibility of what I do. It inspires me and encourages me to constantly work and learn to get better at being a photographer and human being. I didn’t always feel this way and for a long time took my passion for photography for granted. I have, however, come to realize the passion I have always known I’ve had for people, was specifically designed to enable me to create images that have power and meaning. I’ve had a lot of jobs prior to becoming a professional photographer. But, since becoming a professional photographer, I have a life.

Vincent Knaus:
I'm a photographer based in Northern VA and the world is my studio! I create photographs, teach photography and have fun doing what I love to do. I was born in a place where sunsets, being creative and self expression are celebrated everyday. Much of that free spirit has followed me throughout my life and in my work. I am a visual problem solver. I like the challenge of creating an image that is just what the client needs. Everyday is a new opportunity and no opportunity should be wasted.
